Student administration for students with a credit contract

Some things are different when you enrol based on a credit contract instead of a diploma contract. What is important to know?

Apply and enrol as a credit contract student

    • A secondary education diploma is required for admission for a credit contract

The request to enroll in a credit contract for course units must be submitted at the secretariat of the faculty (or via e-mail):

    • for first semester and full year courses no later than the final working day before 15 October
! The online application (see step 2) must be submitted by 8 October.
    • for second semester courses no later than the final working day before 15 February.
! The online application (see step 2) must be submitted by 15 February.

Step 1. Submit the form 'Enrolment with a credit contract' at the faculty

To follow a course/courses with a credit contract, you always need prior permission from the faculty that offers the course/courses. You can request permission with the form 'Enrolment with a credit contract'.

    • If you want to follow courses from different faculties, you must have a form signed per faculty.

    Step 2. Online application

    Start your online application.

On the ‘program selection’ page, under 'choice of programme', at 'course filter', tick the box 'show the complete list of VUB courses, I am registering based on my file'.

At ‘training level’, ‘programme’ and ‘course plan' you should choose for ‘credit contract’.

At the page 'document checklist' you will be asked to upload several documents including the signed form 'Enrolment with a credit contract'.

Complete your application and at the last page submit your application by clicking the icon with the checkmark.

Step 3. Sign the enrolment contract online

When you get permission to register, you will receive a link to the Student SelfService via email. There you can sign your enrolment contract.

    • When you apply at the VUB for the first time, you may have to visit the Education and Student Administration in person before you can sign the enrolment contract. If this is the case, you will receive an email about this.

    No transcript of records

If you are enrolled with a credit contract you will not receive a transcript of records. You can only consult your grades in the Student Selfservice.

You can request a credit certificate (this is a written proof of taking a positive exam). You can address your request for this per email to the faculty that offers the course.

    Re-enrolling is not possible

Re-enrolling for a credit contract is not possible. For a credit contract you must request permission again every academic year.

Once you have the permission you can apply online via the Student Selfservice.
