PhD workshops, seminars and training sessions
The Doctoral Schools and the Researcher Training & Development Office sponsor a variety of events. From this academic year on, you can browse and register for them in the VUB LRN catalogue for 2019-2020 with more ease via TEO Learning. That means you'll see the total VUB offer for all staff in one go, but can still do a filtered search for courses in a specific category!
To help guide PhD candidates along the course of their research, the Researcher Training & Development Office organises the Doctoral education tracks. Should you ever feel stuck, either at the start of your research or in later stages, you are always welcome to join these tracks!
If you have any suggestions for new workshops or seminars, use this online form or send an e-mail at rtdo@vub.be.

Introduction days for new PhD candidates
As of academic year 2017-2018, the introduction days for new PhD candidates are compulsory. It includes necessary information about which services to contact, how the doctoral schools operate, what is good scientific conduct and what not, etc. Candidates have to present proof of attendance in their annual progress reports.
Individual faculties may decide to make the doctoral training programme or parts of it compulsory, based on what they consider to be an important factor in the prospective PhD candidate’s personal file.
We organise the introduction days twice each new academic year. The first one is usually organised in September during the Lecture-free week/Welcome week for newstudents and the second one in February during the Lecture-free week.
More info on the introduction days in the 1st semester of 2021 can be found here.
