Back to online education from Saturday onwards

What was expected from rising corona figures unfortunately became reality. On Wednesday, the Consultative Committee of the Federal Government decided to proceed with “a broad cooling-down package”, also in higher education. VUB switches back to digital education from Saturday 27 March.

This is news that nobody likes, and we understand the disappointment after the earlier outlook. Unfortunately, the situation remains serious. As a university, we will do our part to reduce it. This is our plan in outline.

    • We expect exemplary behaviour from all members of the VUB community, both students and staff members. This includes careful compliance with all existing security measures and the new measures everywhere.

    • From Saturday 27 March onwards, all classes will continue online.

    • Scheduled exams will take place, also 'on campus' if so planned.

    • We explicitly ask that teleworking is once again the norm. Only what is absolutely necessary for scientific research or minimum service is allowed.

    • The restaurant maintains its current service.

This afternoon, we met with Minister of Education Weyts to discuss practical details such as the library, internships, essential WPOs, practica and master's theses in the labs. This meeting is still ongoing. More on that later. Thursday the faculties will meet, Friday the CoronaSafe Team. Please keep an eye on our channels for possible updates.
