Update: On-campus teaching activities possible on limited scale

At the end of October, VUB switched to complete digital teaching (again). This week, the Flemish government confirmed that we will revert to code red as of 30 November, meaning that limited activities on campus are possible again. Obviously the safety measures still apply to these activities.

In this new phase, lectures remain digital. Essential lab sessions, tutorials and exercises can take place on campus again in line with the safety measures. Activities may be arranged on campus for first-year students. You should regularly consult your timetable and Canvas. Students who need it can still reserve a study place.

The new regulations apply until the end of the semester. That means that the exams from 4 to 30 January 2021 will also take place in these conditions. They will be digital where possible and on campus where necessary. Consult your exam timetable and keep an eye on Canvas and your VUB inbox for the latest information relating to your faculty. The exam timetables will be published no later than 4 December 2020.

On Friday, the federal government, communities and regions will discuss the other measures in the Consultation Committee that will come into effect as of next week. As soon as we know what further impact they might have on our university, we will let you know.

You can find the complete update of all regulations regarding education, student facilities and student life on student.vub.be.

It isn’t easy being a student in these circumstances. We realise this and we admire your perseverance and resilience. Keep going, look after each other, and there will be a time when you can study as normal again and enjoy student life. Good luck, and don’t hesitate to ask for help whenever you need it.
