    Returning home for a while?

Due to safety measures VUB has switched to online lectures. News about the upcoming exam period will reach you soon. We understand it is a difficult situation for all, but together we will get through it.

    Considering returning home?

You might be considering to return home for a while, but before grabbing your gear and leaving, please take the following into consideration:

► Possible travel restriction to come back to VUB when lessons return to in-person teaching or when physical presence is requested for exams

► Rental obligations continue unless you cancel your room which comes at an extra cost (early breach of contract). Upon return, it will be very difficult to look for a new one (full occupation and limited visiting opportunities)

► International students who require a visa can’t leave Belgium before receiving their Belgian residence card. Otherwise a new visa application will be needed to return to VUB. The Department of Foreign Affairs has received the ultimate arrival date linked to your programme, and if the date has passed, no visa will be awarded for this academic year anymore.

Please note that you have to collect your Belgian residence card in person at the town hall. Appointments can take up to 4-6 months.
