    Help, I missed the deadline!

Did you miss a deadline or are you worried about sorting out your student administration on time? Here's an overview of the most common situations/questions and how to handle them.

    ENROLMENTS

Help, I missed the application deadline!

The deadline to submit new applications was 8 October 2020. It's no longer possible to submit an application after that, unless you request permission from your faculty. Applying for the second semester is still possible.

I sent in my application on time but my enrolment has not been completed, now what?

Our student administration will take care of your enrolment as soon as possible. If there were any documents missing from your initial application, please email them to studentadministration@vub.be as soon as possible. For international students in need of a visa, the deadline to supplu all necessary documents was 15 October 2020. All students also fill out this form before 23 October (4PM) to make sure we can get your courses registered once you are enrolled. If you don't fill out this form on time, you will need to request an exception from your faculty.

    Can I still switch programmes?

Yes, but chances are you won't be able to take all first semester courses. This is how you proceed:

    1. Request an exception from your faculty (of the desired programme) to apply after the deadline.

    2. Wait for their response.

    3. If they allow it, you quit your enrolment by filling out this form for our student administration, and submitting a new application for the desired programme.

Can I still deregister or terminate my studies?

To deregister, fill out this form for our student administration. You can no longer deregister after 15 May 2021.

I haven't received my tuition fee invoice yet.

Invoices for tuition fees will be sent to your VUB mailaccount. Reminders, notifications and/or registered items will also be sent by postal service to your domicile. It's possible that you receive an invoice for the fixed enrolment fee, and another one for the remaining amount based on the courses you've registered at a later time. Find out everything about (the payment of) your tuition fee here.

I have received my tuition fee invoice but I've requested financial aid (and haven't received it yet).

In this case, it's best to contact our Student Finances Service as soon as possible.

    Course Registration

Help, I missed the deadline to register my courses!

Notify us by filling out this form before 23 October 2020 (4PM), so we can help you. If you don't fill out the form before this deadline, you will have to request an exception from your faculty.

My enrolment is not yet complete, and now i'm late for course registration.

If you submitted your application before 8 October 2020, our student administration will take care of your enrolment as soon as possible. If not, you can request an exception from your faculty to apply after the deadline. It's also very important to fill out this form before 23 October 2020 (4PM) so we can help you with course registration after the deadline. If you don't fill out this form in time, you will have to request an exception from your faculty to register for courses after the deadline.

Can I still deregister for classes?

Deregistering for 1st semester and year long classes is possible until 15 October 2020. After that, it's only possible with permission from the Dean (different for each faculty) until 6 January 2021. If you want to recuperate your credits and tuition for the classes you drop, you will need to deregister before 1 December 2020. The fixed enrolment fee is not eligible for reimbursement.

For 2nd semester courses, you can still (de)register until 28 February 2021. After that it's only possible with permission from the Dean (different for each faculty) until 15 March 2021. After that you will pay the full tuition fee.

    EXEMPTIONS

Can I still apply for an exemption?

Check out the procedure for your faculty. For the 1st semester the deadline to apply for exemptions was 15 October 2020. Applying for 2nd semester exemptions is still possible.

I have applied for an exemption, but haven't received a response. What about my course registration?

Check out the information at the bottom of this webpage to find ut how to proceed with course registration in case you apply for an exemption. This is different for each faculty.
