    Smart Cities & ICT: CTTE-FITCE conference, Ghent, 25-27 September 2019

    Smart cities, where technology supports socio-economic development

    This conference aims at tackling the issues raised by introducing digital technologies for supporting socio-economic development, including both theoretical as well as practical aspects, considered from a multi-disciplinary perspective. There is a special focus on smart cities. We welcome submissions that investigate these issues, focusing on one of the following application domains (not limitative):

    • New communication technologies and their smart city applications, such as 5G, IoT, virtualization etc.
    • Impact on privacy and security, related policies and regulatory challenges
    • Techno-economic cost and/or benefit assessment of networks and applications
    • New business models and pricing schemes for the smart city, IoT and 5G ecosystems
    • Demand / Traffic / Number forecasting for smart city applications and connected devices
    • User requirements
    • Techno-economic tooling and concepts
    • 5G technologies
    • IoT application areas and technical requirements
    • Privacy aware tools
    • Security Frameworks
    • Policies for security and privacy
    • The impact of network virtualization and cloud computing on CAPEX/OPEX
    • The role of telecom operators
    • Regulatory challenges

    Call for papers

    The conference is structured in two main tracks:

    Scientific IEEE track

    We welcome original scientific papers focusing on one of more of the themes mentioned above. Papers should follow IEEE format, and not exceed 6 pages in length. All papers will be subject to peer review. Paper proceedings will be published in IEEExplore.

    Industrial technology track

    We welcome innovative technological contributions directed to companies and public administrations. Proposals for contributions should be submitted in the form of extended abstracts (800-1000 words) and will be subject to a review process as well. Note that these contributions will not be included in the IEEE proceedings.

    The following timeline is foreseen

    • Deadline for submission: 30th March 2019
    • Notification of acceptance: 30th June 2019
    • Early registration deadline: 15th August 2019
    • Deadline for final papers: 31th August 2019
