    Content description activity

    Title activity: Logical Methods

    Short description:

Usually logical methods are seen as part and parcel of mathematical methods, but that view is too limited. Logic deals with an evaluation of the quality, including correctness, of all kinds of reasonings and argumentations, including as a borderline case, proof. Many examples will be discussed to illustrate this view.

Competences: Increased insight in logics as method

Previous knowledge: No specific previous knowledge required

    Content:

    1. What is logic and what are logical methods?
    2. The relation between logic and mathematics.
    3. All the stuff that is missing: logic in the human sciences.
    4. The psychological impact.
    5. About experts everywhere.
