Breakfast series: Exploring the diversity in Life Sciences Careers

Session 1: Life sciences careers in Industry

Ever wondered what wonderful things you can do with your Life sciences PhD?

    Come and have breakfast with:

    • dr. Wouter Bossuyt currently surfs the edge of industry and academics as manager of the Genomics Core at UZ Leuven/ KU Leuven. This role combines both his industrial experience in oncology product management (Multiplicom NV) and his research background as postdoctoral fellow at VIB and MD Anderson Cancer Center. In his PhD he focused on the link between cancer and differentiation: the role of ATOH1 in oncogenesis.
    • dr. Michaël Maes currently works as Associate Scientist in Exploratory Pharmacology at Ablynx, a Belgian biopharmaceutical company engaged in the development of Nanobodies. Before, he did a dual Phd in VUB’s In Vitro Toxicology and Dermato-Cosmetology Research group, dividing his time over Brussels and São Paulo.
    • Tessa Lagey is a freelance HR director & coach with extensive experience in the Life sciences industry. Amongst others, she operated at senior HR level at AstraZeneca and Cerba Healthcare/BARC. She knows as no other which kind of talent Life sciences organizations are looking for.

Career stories will be shared, career choices will be explained, tips and tricks about getting into industry with your PhD will be given, and most importantly your questions will be answered.

When? December 13th, 2018 (Breakfast will be served at 8am. Session will end at 9:45am)

Where? Faculty Meeting Room (VUB Health campus, Laarbeeklaan 103, 1090 Brussels)
