    Fostering Responsible Conduct of Research

    Friday, 15 June, 2018 - 09:30 to Friday, 15 June, 2018 - 17:00
Campus: Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering Campus
    Building M
    Room M015
    Training

TARGET GROUP: doctoral candidates and postdocs (max. 11 particpants)

The aim of the workshop is to increase confidence in issues related to research integrity by discussing various possibilities to deal with them. In this way, this workshop is an invitation to look at your research skills and research environment more critically. Knowing what is good and what is bad practice will help you to respond to research integrity issues in a more professional way.

The following topics will be covered:

    • what are we talking about when we are talking about research integrity?
    • what is at stake and who is involved?
    • how to recognize the various signs of possible misconduct?
    • which resources do researchers have at their disposal in order to respond to issues of research integrity?
    • how could/should researchers act when research integrity is under pressure?

The workshop does not offer step-by-step solutions to specific problems nor does it give you a clear-cut list of what is good or bad research practice.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: The participants will be more aware of issues related to the responsible conduct of research. They will be more proficient in recognizing and discussing research integrity issues, more confident in responding to them, and fully ready to become research integrity champions within their research environment (recognize-respond-champion).

TEACHERS: Nele Bracke, Stefanie Van der Burght (UGent)

TEACHING METHODS: Interactive seminar, discussion, group exercises, individual reflection

    LANGUAGE: English
