When?
You can go on exchange in Bachelor year 3 or in either of your Master years. The preferred period is the 2nd semester of Bachelor year 3 and/or the 1st semester of Master year 2.
Who?
Bachelor exchange
You need to:
- have passed your courses of bachelor year 1
- have passed all second semester courses of bachelor year 2
Master exchange
You need to:
- have obtained your bachelor's degree or passed for the bridging or preparatory programme
How?
Nomination EU destination
- For study exchange, select your favorite destination (see list below). For internship/thesis you are not limited to this list.
- Write a motivation letter (max. 1 page in Dutch or English)
- Send your application to your exchange coordinator Matthieu Kervyn
- Deadline is March 1st
Nomination non-EU destination
- Select your top destination from this website. For internship/thesis you are not limited to this list.
- For study exchange, select one back-up EU destination from the list below
- Express you interest before December 15th to exchange.outgoing@vub.be and marjan.maes@vub.be
- Complete your application file (more info will be provided personally after December 15th)
- Send your application to your exchange coordinator Matthieu Kervyn

Learning agreement
After you have been nominated, you will have to fill in a learning agreement.
In short: in your learning agreement you propose the courses that you will be taking at your guest university. You will need to take a look at the offer of your guest university (website) yourself and come up with a proposal of your own to discuss with your exchange coordinator.
